Mowing Madness: Instructions
How to play
Simply click on “New Game” to start a new game, and choose, amongst other options, the maximum skill level of your opponent. Alternatively you may join a game that has been started by another player.
This game puts you in the shoes of a groundsman, whose duty it is to mow the football pitch perched on top of a tractor. Patches of the pitch are mown by driving over them with the tractor. The tractor can be directed by using the arrow keys and made to jump by pressing the space bar.
Starting on Level 1, you must successfully mow the entire pitch before you may progress to the next. There are 3 levels in total.
Mowing Madness is a two-player duel.
- Both players start in the same position and are subject to the same conditions.
- Players may play consecutive games.
- Once a player has completed a game, s/he may either watch his/her opponent, or leave the game and start a new game.
- Other players may be directly invited to play a game.
Rules
Two players play against each other in this game. At the start of the game, each player is shown the football pitch. Stepping into the shoes of the groundsman, the players must mow the pitch with a tractor, whilst two teams are playing a game of football!
The objective of the game is to mow as much of the pitch as possible and therefore score the most points. The winner of the game is the player with the highest points total.
The game ends when the time limit is reached, or when the player has lost all of his/her lives. Each player starts with 3 lives. One life is lost if the player collides with one of the footballers. However, you may gain extra lives – see “Points”.
Points
For every patch of grass mown you are awarded 10 points. As long as you drive in the right direction, each patch increases in value by a further point.
But there are not only football players to be aware of - there are also devious moles intent on ruining your lovely pitch. Jump on a mole and score 100 points! Should you manage to land on more than one mole in a row, each mole will be worth an extra 100 points. Do this by jumping just before reaching the first mole and your second jump will be twice as far.
A heart will appear after every second mole caught – collect hearts to get extra lives.
While mowing, objects are thrown onto the pitch, such as
- Stars
- Beer Bottles
- Beer Cases
- Toilet Paper
- Flares
The star makes the groundsman invulnerable for a short period of time.
Collecting a beer bottle, or a beer case (worth 3 bottles), will increase the groundsman’s alco-meter. Once the alco-meter limit is reached, the groundsman’s vision is blurred and he will see double for a short period of time. In his drunken haze, the groundsman envisages a sheep asleep on the pitch. Gently nudge the sheep to wake him up, and it will go about ‘mowing’ the grass for you. Twenty points are awarded for every patch of grass the sheep trims.
Should you drive over a roll of toilet paper, the blades of the tractor will jam temporarily. If you are hit by a flare, you will lose a life. Fortunately both objects, along with all of the others, can be knocked off of the pitch by the football. Should an object land off the pitch, it can no longer be reached.
